Film and Fashion come together to create a beautiful world of whimsy and design, where the fashion takes centre stage. The genre has grown immensely and there are now several international fashion film festivals worldwide. Cape Town will be hosting the Mercedes Benz Bokeh South African International Film Festival from 5 – 7 June, the first Fashion Film Festival in Africa. Local and international filmmakers were invited to submit their films and the best were selected to show at the festival. A spectacular red carpet Award Ceremony will take place at the end of the event. Films are nominated in categories such as Best Director, Best Actor/Actress, Best Visual Effects, Best Make-Up, Best Hair, Best Fashion etc.
The Mercedes Benz Bokeh Film Festival will be hosted by Crossley and Webb (across from Wembley Square in Gardens). Mercedes Benz is partnering with Bokeh, elevating the event to one of luxury and innovation. The festival is free to enter and will transport attendees into the world of high end fashion with inspiring talks, installations by top designers, fashion films and pop-up stores from the Cape Town Fashion Council.
Members of the public are invited to come to the event to view the previous day’s films and shop from 10am – 4pm on the Friday and Saturday. It will be a one stop shop for the latest in top South African fashion with designers like David Tlale, Gavin Rajah, Milq and Honey, Label Collections, Jo Carlin, Selfie, Spilt Milk Designs, CSquared, Lara Klawikowski, Shirt & Co, Jagadi Couture and Hannah Collection.
