PROMOTING EMERGING TALENT AT CAPE TOWN FASHION WEEK

Each winter Cape Town plays host to the Western Cape’s biggest fashion event – Cape Town Fashion Week (CTFW). The CTFC is one of the key funders of Cape Town Fashion Week and has partnered with the event’s organizer, African Fashion International (AFI), to further increase the quality and industry profile of the event as well as to ensure that high standards are set. This year Cape Town Fashion Week was officially positioned as South Africa’s national Spring/Summer fashion platform. The CTFC prides itself on having helped to create a platform which not only features various industry heavy weights but also continually features exciting new talent, local industry has to offer.

The CTFC has also managed to garner sponsorship from two of the country’s biggest retailers; Foschini and Woolworths for The Graduate and Emerging Show respectively, held at Cape Town Fashion Week every year.

ANNUAL FASHION INDUSTRY CONFERENCE

Every year the CTFC hosts an Industry Conference as part of the biggest design conference on the African continent – Design Indaba.

The industry conference’s main aim is to raise important industry issues in order to communicate challenges and possible solutions to policy and decision makers within the industry.

DESIGN INDABA EXPO

Every year the CTFC occupies a stand at Design Indaba, raising awareness of its services and member offerings. In 2010 the CTFC once again occupied a stand but also supported and enabled five designers, participants of the CTFC’s Fashion for Business programme, with obtaining exhibition stands. For 2011 the CTFC plans to host an umbrella stand featuring eight designers, who will also be featured in the Expo’s ramp shows.
